alexa badges to increase your site ranking in alexa

Badge To Increase Alexa Ranking?

Google PageRank and AlexaRank are the most probably two most important measure for any website or blogs. Every blogger is always aspiring for better and better ranking on these two. Google’s PageRank indicates about how popular your website is or more specifically talking how many back-link your site receives from others. On the other hand AlexaRank indicates the amount of traffic your site is receiving. Since these are the most reputed third party it is more reliable for anyone to evaluate a website.
Regarding improving in Alexa there’s a lot rumor in the blogging market. There is no authentic voice but people keep talking that if you put Alexa Badge on your site or blog, it helps to improve ranking faster.
Justin Germino presents a similar details in his post in “Should You Have an Alexa Badge On Your Site?” indragonblogger.com . He provokes of improvement of 40k in 38 days of his own dragonblogger; and Better, he found a 100K improvement within two weeks in his wife’s blog.
Similarly Ben Lang in his blog ben-lang.com  suggests as a means to improve alexa rank:
    • Install the Alexa toolbar,  and set your site as your homepage in your browsers.
    • Add an Alexa widget , button  or graph to your site.
    • Get reviews and ratings on the Alexa site.
    • Write or blog about Alexa (as I am doing now.)
How far could it be true? Is Alexa bribing bloggers to popularize its badge and self back-link? If not, there is no reason for a blog to experience improvement just because it added a badge. If Alexa ranking is the measure of flow of traffic to a site, where comes the role of Badge? Did you experience improve ranking after you put a badge in your blog?

How to Get Rid of Acne and Pimples

How to Get Rid of Acne and Pimples

The basic mechanics behind acne are as follows: Oil glands that produce sebum on your face can get clogged by things such as dirt, dry skin flakes, or the oil itself. Once the pore is clogged, it creates an area that is like an infection where this pebble-like blockage is considered a foreign entity. The situation is made worse by bacteria that thrive within the blockage and cause further irritation of the skin. Bacteria live on your face naturally, and in fact they cover our entire bodies, but within the conditions of a pimple they cause a rush of white blood cells to come to the area to fight off the infection. As white blood cells do their work, they turn into pus that can fill the pore as well. The resulting redness and swelling is what we see on the surface as pimples. The frustrating thing is the bad acne we see today actually started forming several weeks ago. So as you can see, it is a long developmental process that takes time to get rid of. You can’t just slather on a litre of acne cream and hope to “zap” the problem away.

1. Healthy Living

Take care of healthy living with regards to drinking a lot of water, getting exercise, sleeping enough at night time, and reducing reduce stress levels. Your body and skin are inter-connected so taking care of your overall health impacts your skin. What you do now will have long-term impacts on your skin in the future.

2. Washing Your Face

You should wash your face twice a day with a gentle skin cleanser. One washing in the morning and once before bedtime is the best way to go. Avoid bar soap on your face or anything too abrasive. You won’t be doing yourself any favors by over-washing so don’t over do things because it won’t get rid of acne any faster. Be careful about using hot water or taking long hot showers (especially in winter) because this can strip your skin of moisture. Use gentle motions rather than trying to scrub your acne away.

Look for the best acne products that will preserve the moisture and integrity of your skin while killing bacteria as well. Comprehensive treatment systems that include several components are often more effective than any one product alone. Make sure to budget adequately because some treatments can be quite expensive.

Say No to Popping!

3. Diet

Your diet should be a healthy mix of all four food groups with a good dose of fresh fruits and vegetables to get your skin acne free. Chocolate and oily foods don’t actually cause acne, but it never hurts to eat right and take care of your body. Snacking is great to give your metabolism a boost during the day and an excellent way to get some fruits and veggies into your diet.

4. Bad Habits

Avoid things like smoking, sun tanning, and drinking too many sugary or caffeinated beverages. All of your bad habits can result in nasty things accumulating in your pores and forming blockages.

5. Trial and Error

As for which creams or lotions to use to get rid of pimples, there is no one answer for everyone. Some products will work for people, while they will inspire complaints about their ineffectiveness from others. So it might take a bit of trial error to find which product works best because even the most popular product might not be effective for some people. Pay attention to your own skin care and don’t sit back while hoping for a solution.

6. No Popping

Don’t pop your pimples if you can help it. It might make things worse, especially if you have sever acne. It’s obviously tempting to get rid of acne by popping it, but at best it’s a temporary solution. You can end up spreading bacteria which leads to more acne formation, or you can put yourself at risk for forming acne scars. Sometimes you just have to be patient and let a pimple die down naturally while giving your treatment time to work.

Clear Skin...and Jazz Hands!

7. No Touching

We’ve already mentioned the dangers of touching your face to often, but remember there are more things that come into contact with your face than your hands. Don’t forget about your hair, pillowcases, and clothing. Make sure to keep your hair trimmed, well washed, and out of your face. Wash pillowcases thoroughly so that there’s no detergent residue left over that can aggrivate your skin.

8. Let it Breathe

Give your skin a breather from time to time. You don’t need to have medicine on your face every second of the day. Your face is naturally resilient and it will help to let it heal naturally from time to time. Acne products can contain some pretty harsh ingredients and you don’t necessarily want to constantly expose your skin to certain treatments, especially if it’s not the right one for your skin type. Some acne products are designed to get rid of the problem but they might not focus on overall skin health. Also make sure you take off all your makeup before you go to bed.

9. Help from a Skin Doctor

See a dermatologist! You can’t always deal with how to get rid of acne all by yourself. Get help from someone who knows what they are doing and can prescribe more powerful treatments if needed. Looking for acne tips on the net is fine, but you can find out so much more with one trip to a good dermatologist. Your dermatologist will be able to assess the situation and give you his professional opinion about how to get rid of acne on your face. Remember you need to get a referal from your family doctor first. Good dermatologists sometimes have long waiting lists so don’t let the problem slide for too long. It can be intimidating to see one for the first time, but you’ll be glad you did when you come one step closer to better looking skin.

10. The Right Acne Products

Aim for Healthy Skin rather than just looking for overnight results that may not last. What usually results from brute force methods such as over-treatment or popping pimples is that your skin will get worse. Acne can spread to other areas and your skin walls can get thinner and therefore more susceptible to further damage or problematic conditions. With daily care and the right treatment, clear skin can be right around the corner! People every day look for new ways to get rid of acne naturally and sometimes the difference between those who succeed and those who fail is a matter of perserverence. So never give up. If something doesn’t work then move to the next option. Even the best medications take time, so be patient and stay dedicated.

How to Lose Weight - The Basics of Weight Loss

At it's most basic, losing weight is about burning more calories than you eat. That seems simple enough, but if were really that simple, none of us would have a weight problem. Too often we take drastic measures to see results -- diets, pills or those weird fitness gadgets on infomercials that promise instant success. Maybe you lose weight but what happens when you go off that diet or stop that crazy workout program? You gain it all back and more. The real secret to weight loss is to make small, lasting changes. The key is to forget about instant results and settle in for the long run.
Rules of Weight Loss
To lose one pound of fat, you must burn approximately 3500 calories over and above what you already burn doing daily activities. That sounds like a lot of calories and you certainly wouldn't want to try to burn 3500 calories in one day. However, by taking it step-by-step, you can determine just what you need to do each day to burn or cut out those extra calories. Below is a step by step process for getting started.
  1. Calculate your BMR (basal metabolic rate). YourBMR is the amount of calories your body needs to maintain basic bodily functions like breathing and digestion. This is the minimum number of calories you need to eat each day. Keep in mind that no calculator will be 100% accurate, so you may need to adjust these numbers as you learn more about your own metabolism.
  2. Calculate your activity level. For a week or so, keep an activity journal and use a calorie calculator to figure out how many calories you burn while sitting, standing, exercising, lifting weights, etc. throughout the day. Another, easier option is to wear a heart rate monitor that calculates calories burned. After a week, add your totals for each day and average them out to get a general idea of how many calories you burn each day.
  3. Keep track of how many calories you eat . For at least a week, enter and track your calories online (e.g., with Calorie Count ) or use a food journal  to write down what you eat and drink each day. Be as accurate as possible, measuring when you need to or looking up nutritional information for restaurants, if you eat out. After a week, add your totals for each day and average them out to get a general idea of how many calories you eat each day.
  4. Add it up. Take your BMR number and add your activity calories. Then subtract your food calories from that total. If you're eating more than your BMR + your activity calories, you're at risk for gaining weight.
Example:
Mary's BMR is 1400 calories and she burns 900 calories with regular exercise, walking around and doing household chores. To maintain her weight, she should be eating 2300 calories (1400 + 900= 2300). However, after keeping a food journal, Mary finds that she's eating 2550 calories every day. By eating 250 more calories than her body needs, Mary will gain about a pound every 2-3 weeks.
This example shows how easy it is to gain weight without even knowing it. However, it's also easy to lose weight, even if the process itself can be slow. You can start by making small changes in your diet and activity levels and immediately start burning more calories than you're eating. If you can find a way to burn an extra 200 to 500 calories each day with both exercise and diet, you're on the right track. Try these ideas:

Instead of...Do this...
An afternoon CokeDrink a glass of water. (calories saved: 97)
An Egg McMuffinEat a small whole wheat bagel +1 Tbsp of peanut butter (calories saved: 185)
Using your break eat sweetsWalk up and down a flight of stairs for 10 minutes (calories burned: 100)
Hitting the snooze buttonGet up 10 minutes early and go for a brisk walk (calories burned: 100)
Watching TV after workDo 10 minutes of yoga (calories burned: 50)

Total Calories Saved: 532 (based on a 140-pound person)

how to setup video ad unit in google adsense

Yesterday I wrote about the launch of Google AdSense video units, but like I said, no one with an AdSense account was able to use the feature yet. As of last night that changed.
Here is a how to, on setting up Google AdSense Video Units via YouTube.
Step 1: Go to your AdSense Set Up Page and click on the YouTube (Video Units) option as pointed out in the image below:

Step 2: Agree to legal disclaimer (first time only):

Step 3: Confirm your AdSense account with YouTube (first time only). You are taken to YouTube after you agree to the disclaimer. This is where you plugin your AdSense account information, so YouTube and AdSense can communicate.

Step 4: When that is done, it should tell you they have associated your account with YouTube.

Step 5: Then you set up your first player. You define the player name and description, the layout and the colors also.

Step 6: Define the content matching options. You can let Google figure out your content and provide relevant video ads, or you can help with hints or by specifying the content you want on your site.

Step 7:Then you just click the generate ad code:
